Overview

What Scrip reads, and why the number on your screen is not your position.

Robinhood Chain carries 194 tokenised equities. When one of them pays a dividend or splits, your balance does not change. A multiplier inside the token changes instead, and from that moment one token stands for more than one share.

Nothing else on the chain accounts for this. Explorers, aggregators and charts read the raw token price and present it as a share price. For the eleven tokens whose multiplier has already moved that reading is wrong, and it will be wrong for every token that pays from here on.

What Scrip is

  • 01A book of every stock token with its multiplier, the price a tracker shows, and the price it is actually worth.
  • 02A calendar of every scheduled corporate action, with the size of the step it opens.
  • 03A denominator that prices anything on the chain in shares rather than dollars.
  • 04Two read-only contracts and a public HTTP API so anyone can compute the same numbers without us.

What Scrip is not

  • 01It is not an exchange and it does not route trades. Nothing here can move a token.
  • 02It holds no funds. There is no deposit, no withdrawal and no custody.
  • 03It charges nothing. Neither contract has a payable function or an owner that could add one.
  • 04It runs no private bot against the calendar. The schedule is published to everyone at once.
